Compared with traditional welding, laser welding produces narrow and deep weld seams (with a depth-to-width ratio of up to 5:1), reducing thermal deformation.

The laser used in handheld laser welding experiences little attenuation over long spatial distances, can be transmitted and deflected through optical fibers, prisms, etc., and is easy to focus.
